Today Is Good Friday – What That Means For Your Travel Home

goodfridayphilippinesMy parents were not religious. We only went to Church when my pops felt guilty about something. I am not religious but getting all these sacraments and going to a catholic school for a 13 years has given me keen insight into religious minded Christian-folk. It has also given me weird sexual deviance(s), because I can’t get off unless I feel guilty and ashamed. This is why I went on a strict non-christian dating policy for a while. Christians are big on marriage because they cannot function without a constant source of misery.

But I’m not here to talk about the finer points of Christian Dogma, or how appliances at the Vatican run on the tears of the sexually abused children the Church let themselves into. Actually I am going to give you another bit of stunning insight that you won’t get anywhere else.

Good Friday

Everything you need to know about Christianity is lodged in the word Good Friday.  If I understand correctly, by being beaten and eventually killed Jesus saved all future people who believe in him  from sin. While I don’t know how Jesus can love me 2000 years before I was born, I know that his death gave Christians everywhere a complex. I call it the: What Can Your Death do for Me Complex. It’s a Good Friday because someone else’s suffering hooked me up with some benefit.

Check it out, ask yourself

  • When the Church/Christians killed Gay People/Women/Other Christians/Non-Christian/ back in the Day, what did it do for them ?
  • When the Church/Christian OK’ed slavery in the New World, or assisted with the Genocide of the First People what did it do for them?

Well when Church killed gays they were able to get more of the frilly expensive Liberace-like clothing that the real flamboyant gays would normally use, in order to make the outrageous robes for priests bishops and Cardinals. When the Cathars were slaughtered that was once less group of people to question the authority of the Church etc. Killing women and treating them like shit for a few centuries forced the remaining women who were spared to focus on making more babies thus creating more victims for the Church’s sexual abuse industrial complex.

Ok Let’s Get Serious Now

Christianity has nothing to do nowadays with the message of my homey Jesus. You can’t love your neighbor with a drone Army or by destroying nature. If we are honest with ourselves, if Jesus came back from the dead again, he couldn’t get through the security checks at most airports. He was a Semitic man who wore sandals had long hair, a beard, and spoke Aramaic which the majority of uneducated Americans would take to be Arabic.

roofie-detecting-strawChristianity is one part of a vast bureaucratic machine that is indiscriminately destroying life. Religion is not as Marx said the opiate of the people, it is manufactured consent like a roofie. If you see Christians on the way home today you can dress down your wealth or importance, by wearing  Sweat pants, preferably run-down dirty sneakers or Ugg boots. Or you can go the opposite route and wear things made by companies that promote child labor and harsh working conditions etc

Who do these Buddhist think they are?

Yoga

As big corporations embrace meditation, some Buddhists fear their religion’s being co-opted by elites

Powerful, well-funded institutions want to invest in Buddhism. They’ve been eyeing the neighborhood for ways to manage employee stress and put a more compassionate face on free trade. The only question is whether the current tenants will band together to disrupt them. Buddhists now fear their religion is turning into a designer drug for the elite. Some are fighting back against this trend. “Just like the gentrification of a neighborhood where new, wealthy people displace people who have lived there longer,” Ream writes, “the dharma is undergoing a process of gentrification in San Francisco today.”

All of this started when, a couple of people armed with yoga mats, pungent body-order and self-righteousness stormed the Wisdom 2.0 conference. If you didn’t know, this conference is an annual gathering of life coaches, tech elites and spiritual teachers  billed as a “conversation about the merging of wisdom and technology,” and topics range from mindful business and leadership to social entrepreneurship and innovation. “Most of the workshops offer lifestyle and consumer choices that are meant to help people heal from the harm, emptiness and un-sustainability associated with living under capitalism, but [they do so] without offering an analysis of where this disconnection comes from,” Amanda Ream, one of the disruption’s organizers, writes in a blog post for Tricycle Magazine explaining why she disrupted the conference. “The conference presents an evolution in consciousness of the wealthiest among us as the antidote to suffering rather than the redistribution of wealth and power.”

Here’s the thing

business-meditation2Religion is a tool. It is a means to an end and usually that end is sectarian violence; or accepting to live in a deplorable situation now because in some  strange afterlife you will be front of the line for all the rides in heaven. Yes there are some people who have used religion to help others  or as a disciplinary measure to calm their zeal for life just till it’s tepid and uninspiring, but the exceptions do not define the rules!

Who do these Buddhist think they are, Do they feel that Buddhist is special, do they think that it is not doomed to lead to sectarian violence like the Buddhist monks in Burma terrorizing Muslims ? I would even be willing to that religion is like a loaded gun in a safe.  It takes someone to come in pick up the gun and use. Since when have human beings not been vengeful, ignorant belligerent. The Tech Industry cares about $$$ not people.

Buddhist and meditation and all that fancy shit is one way to squeeze more juice out of the employee.

Whaddya think?
