Jocular Look @Today’s News || Abusing Gays in Russia OK, Taking Away their Lace Underwear NOT OK

MOSCOW — A trade ban on lacy lingerie has Russian consumers and their neighbors with their knickers in a twist. The ban will outlaw any underwear containing less than 6 percent cotton from being imported, made, or sold in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. On Sunday, 30 women protesters in Kazakhstan were arrested and thrown into police vans while wearing lace underwear on their heads and shouting “Freedom to panties!”

According to the Russian Textile Businesses Union, more than $4 billion worth of underwear is sold in Russia annually, and 80 percent of the goods sold are foreign made. Analysts have estimated that 90 percent of products would disappear from shelves, if the ban goes into effect this summer as planned. While consumer outrage may force customs union officials to compromise, many see the underwear ban as yet another example of the misguided economic policies that have become a trademark of many post-Soviet countries. Other people laughed off the panty ban, seeing it as yet another attempt to add regulations and controls to an already byzantine bureaucracy in the three countries.

 SO Lemme get this Straight

People protest because they have to wear under wear that looks like this:

But a lot of people see nothing wrong with this:

To Be Fair

To be fair Russia used to be a super power, like the USA once was. You don’t get to be a superpower without having the resolve to commit acts of genocide against entire people like the Russians did the Kossacks. There was also  the Ukranians ( Mother Russian took all their wheat and left 7 million to starve to death). Who can forget the ethnic Poles, Chechnians, Latvians, Estonians Lithuanians. I mean Uncle Joe Stalin (as he was known in the USA before he stopped following the script) killed like 20-30 million people? So violence against gays is  just another page in the same leisure genocidal violence that is Russian History. I mean we have done similar things ourselves. Remember when:

Celebrities Protest Twinkie Extinction

November 16, 2012 4:07 PM

Ding-Dong, the Twinkie’s dead. Snack time will never be the same without Twinkies after Hostess announced the company will be going out of business. Sweet-toothed stars took to Twitter to protest the extinction of the beloved cream-filled cake.

“Mr President, the time for intervention is now! #HostessBailOut #FruitPiesForever #HoHosArePeopleToo,” Rob Lowe posted in distress. “I’m not kidding. If Hostess goes under I will mourn. And wear a black arm band. In the shape of a Chocodile. Then, I will try to eat it.”  In preparation for a report on ABC News’s World News with Diane Sawyer, the journalist tweeted, “We’re all saying goodbye to an old friend tonight. Twilight hours for the Twinkie.” The announcement has sent people running to the store to stock up their pantries with Twinkies, according to CBS News’ MoneyWatch. Boxes are even reportedly being auctioned off on eBay for hefty price tags.

Yet at the same time during 2012

1 Black Man Is Killed Every 28 Hours by Police or Vigilantes: America Is Perpetually at War with Its Own People From the war on drugs to the war on terror, law enforcement’s battle against minorities serves as pacification.

May 28, 2013

Police officers, security guards, or self-appointed vigilantes extrajudicially killed  at least 313  African-Americans in  2012 according to a recent study. This means a black person was killed by a security officer every 28 hours. The report notes that it’s possible that the real number could be much higher.

To Put it All in Perspective

I wish selfishly that blacks were people too or accorded the same love and social status as Twinkies. Imagine if people petitoned the president to bail us out of the stranglehold of police brutality. If we want to put it all in perspective Russian are just about as desensitized to violence as we are. The only difference between US and Russian or us and Russia is that they do not have the resources or western European backing to spread their brand of brutality around the world. Look at this prime example. How much do you want to bet that more people know about headline number one than headline number 2

  1. If the lawmakers could wear any type of underwear they desire, do you think that would make them less homophobic? This is a very astute observation, my blogging buddy! 🙂
