I got this from reddit today here. What a sobering reminder of how fragile life is and what a call to really recognize each others individual freedom. Massacres don’t happen over night we all have a responsibility to look past our own comfort and really no matter how small do or say something. When I look at these pictures, I do not see Muslims or Bosnian or White people or Foreigners. I see human beings endowed by Nature to with life, the very same life denied and desecrated by another human being for no reason at all.

The entrance to the Manjaca concentration camp reads in cyrillic letters “CONCENTRATION CAMP – PROHIBITED ENTRY.” Thousands of civilians, mostly Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims) were tortured in Serb-run camps like this one. Prior to announced visit of the international media in August of 1992, Serb guards relocated hundreds of emaciated and badly beaten prisoners to other locations. BBC TV crew speaks with emaciated Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim) man in the Trnopolje concentration camp. Serb authorities allowed TV crew to enter the camp after international pressure mounted. Badly emaciated prisoners were removed from the camp, but Dr. Idriz Merdzanic managed to smuggle some photos of brutal beatings and abuse in the camp, which we will show beginning from the next photo.

This is horrible. Why are we the only species who seems to live with the intent of self extermination? People use the example of the Holocaust as a way of remembering atrocities and genocide…but most forget (or neglect to realize) that THEY STILL HAPPEN.

Hey TarnZs,
This is sad beyond words. It’s not like genocides are things of the past. There are so many gross atrocities done everyday that go unreported. I dunno …what more to say

Shocking and horrifying post about events I knew very little about. There are no words for those photos. I hope we learn to stop repeating history.

I hope so as well, it’s just really sad to see how we keep repeating the same mistakes and how many have to suffer for it
